speaker events
The Palmerston Society has a long-standing tradition of hosting distinguished guests in our speaker events. A few years ago, the society has secured the presence of the former Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni for the annual dinner in Lent Term. In the past, we have also been graced by the presence of Sir Richard Aikens and Lord Peter Hennessy.
This year, the society hopes to extend the tradition of organising quality speaker events. |
social events
Apart from facilitating political exchange within the college, the society is also responsible for the promotion of the social and mental well-being of its members. To enhance cohesion amongst students, social events will be held throughout the year, with the flagship garden party to be hosted after exams are over.
Following requests from members, the society is also planning to order soc-stash for members. Details regarding the products available and design will be made available soon. |
outreach
Echoing the college's drive for increasing our accessibility, the society will engage in outreach programmes throughout the year. Apart from the Q&A page on the website, the committee is planning to host an essay writing competition to be held over summer to appeal to Sixth-Form students. More details will follow in due course.
